Man Killed in Motorcycle Accident in Tamarac

Police have been investigating a February 15 motorcycle accident in Tamarac that led to the death of one man. According to information released from the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, a 24-year-old Fort Lauderdale woman was driving her silver Hyundai east on W. Commercial Blvd. at approximately 6 p.m. While she was completing a U-turn at White Oak Lane, she was rear-ended by a 29-year-old man riding a motorcycle.

According to witnesses, the motorcyclist was traveling at an extremely high rate of speed at the time of the accident. He was thrown from his bike and had to be airlifted to the Broward Health Medical Center. He later died from his injuries.

At this point, there is no information about whether the Hyundai driver’s U-turn was legal or not, but if the motorcycle rider was truly speeding at the time of the accident, then he may have been at least partially at fault for the crash. However, it’s important to note that U-turn and failure to yield are among the most common causes of motorcycle accidents. Drivers of motor vehicles often fail to see motorcycles coming because they are smaller and easier to miss than most cars and trucks. Thus, it’s important for drivers to remain diligent about watching out for motorcycle riders on Florida’s roads and highways to help prevent serious crashes.

After a motorcycle accident resulting in injuries or death to your or a loved one, you may need to seek compensation from those partially or fully responsible for the crash.
