What is the difference between assault and battery?

Video Transcription:

An assault is typically a threat to commit some sort of a violent act against a person. A battery is typically an unwanted touching or striking. If I threaten to punch someone in the face but don’t actually do it, that’s an assault. If I actually do strike that person, that’s a battery.
