You definitely want to notify the owner of the business or someone in charge of that property to make sure that you have an incident report filed. Make sure that that report is taken in writing. Get the names and contact information for any potential witnesses that might have seen the fall. See if there’s any video or any sort of surveillance cameras in the area. Try to look around and see if you can determine what caused your fall, whether it be some sort of liquid on the floor or some sort of defect on the sidewalk, anything of that nature. If at all possible, take pictures of the area where you fell.
